Restaurants in Leeds11 miles outside the city, not too far from the Leeds Bradford Airport is the Harry Ramsdens Fish and Chip restaurant which is exceptionally popular with the locals and travellers on their way north or south. For a starter, try the Pool Court at 42 or Rascasse which are award winning Michelin starred restaurants. More elegant establishments would be the Leodis, Harvey Nichols 4th floor, Brasserie 44 and the Sous Le Nez en Ville. All are fine restaurants and a little pricey but the quality of the food is magnificent. For the less formal restaurant, try the Velvet, the Oporto, or Shears Yard around by the Exchange Quarter. Near the West Yorkshire Playhouse is the Cactus Lounge, which is rated the 4th best Mexican restaurant in the whole of England. The subterranean La Grillade will spoil you with French cuisine, while the Italian Job restaurant as well as BiBis will bowl you over with Mediterranean food which is ideal to please any appetite. For the more Indian spice cuisine, try the Shabab or the Darbar which are well recommended. Near to the Grand Theatre as well as the area around the top of Vicar Lane, are great areas for Japanese and Thai restaurants. Just near the Headrow, treat yourself to the great Canton Flavour restaurant which is a real favourite with the locals. Soul Kitchen in the Business part of town is rather unique and has delectable food. Around the city one will also dine in all the chain restaurants, like Pizza Express, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, etc. Out in the suburbs of Headingley, try the Citrus Cafe and the Grove Cafe in Hyde Park which have great atmosphere. For good old English food check out the Ferret hall Bistro in Headingley. Near the University and the BBC is the Strawberry Fields restaurant which serves up good wholesome food.
